Who was Charlemagne and what was one of his achievements? Charlemagne - Ruled kingdom, also known as Charles the Great Achievement: Charlemagne was the most potent prince with the greatest skill.
What was Carolingian Dynasty? Carolingian Dynasty - the family that would rule the Franks from 751 to 987.
What was Feudalism and what did it depend on? Feudalism - the system of governing and landholding. It depended on the control of land.
What was the feudal system based on? The feudal system was based on rights and obligations.
What kind of people were in the social order of Feudalism? In Feudalism there were, lords, fiefs, vassals, knights, serfs, and manors.
Who is the economic side of Feudalism and who was at Medieval side? Manors were on the economic side Tithe were on the medieval side.
What was Chivalry? Chivalry - a complex set of ideals.
Who did a Knight devote himself to? A knight would devote himself to an earthly feudal lord, his heavenly lord, and his chosen lady.
What was a knight's training like? A knight's training was like: Page- at age 7, a boy would be sent off to the castle of another lord. Squire - at age 14, page reached ranked squire. Knight - at age 21, squire became a full - fledged Knight.
What was a Tournament? Tournaments - mock battles.
What was an Epic? Epic - songs and poems about knight's undying love for a lady.
Who were Troubadours? Troubadours - traveling poet musicians.
Who were monasteries? Monasteries - Church built religious communities.
What does secular mean? Secular - worldly, power involved in politics.
What was Women's role in Feudal Society? Women were powerless and were taught to be inferior of men.
What was Noblewomen's role in Feudal Society? Noblewomen could inherit estate from her husband.
What was Peasant women's role in Feudal Society? Peasant women were poor and powerless.
What does clergy mean? Clergy - bishops and priests, fell under his authority.
What was the lay investiture? Lay investiture - a ceremony in which kings and nobles appointed church officials.
What were sacraments? Sacraments - important religious ceremonies.
Who was the most effective Ruler of medieval Germany? The most effective ruler of medieval Germany was Otto I, known as Otto the Great.
What was a canon law? Canon Law - Church Law, in matters such as marriage and religious practices.
