Question | Answer |
Atom | The smallest component of an element having the same chemical properties of the element consisting of a nucleus containing combinations of protons, neutrons, and one or more electrons. |
Solid | Being a substance in a physical state in which it resists changes in size and shape. A substance having a definite shape and volume. |
Liquid | The state in which a substance exhibits a characteristic readiness to flow; fluid matter having no fixed shape but a fixed volume. |
Gas | The phase of matter where the particles expand freely to fill their container |
Matter | Solids, liquids and/or gases in any form, from which everything physical is made. It is a substance that occupies space and has mass. |
Plasma | An electrically neutral, highly ionized gas composed of ions, electrons, and neutral particles. |
Electron | a small, negatively charged particle that is located outside of an elements nucleus with a very small mass but a negative charge that has the same strength as a protons positive charge. |
Electron Cloud | The area outside of the nucleus of an atom where the electrons of an atom are located. |
Element | A substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances by physical or chemical means. |
Neutron | A tiny particle that is located in the nucleus of an atom, has about the same mass as a proton, and has no electrical charge. |
Proton | A tiny particle that is located in the nucleus of an atom, has mass, and a positive charge. |
Molecule | Two or more atoms held together by covalent bonds, having no overall electrical charge. |
