Whole Learning | Practicing a behavior or task in its entirety. Simple and discrete motor tasks, such as rolling over in bed, sit to stand, or scratching ones head. |
Pure-Part Learning | Complex activities where the component parts are discrete motor programs in and of themselves. (tennis serve) |
Progressive/Sequential-Part Learning | Intermediate skills & serial tasks that require many stops that must be performed in a specific sequence in order to be considered successful (many steps) |
Whole to Part to Whole Learning | Used the most. An individual is first asked to perform the whole task; the clinician then breaks down the task into separate components and reconstitutes the entire program. (impairment training) |
Neuroplasticity | the brain's ability to adapt & use cellular adaptations to tlearn or relearn functions previously lost due to cellular death or trauma or disease at any age. |
