Nervous System | Your body's control center and communication network. |
Neurons | Specailized cells that recieve and send signals. |
Nerves | Bundles of tissue that carry signals from one place to another. |
Spinal Cord | Column of nerve tissues that runs through the backbone. |
Central Nervous System | The brain and spinal cord. |
Peripheral Nervous System | The nerves that connect the brain to the spinal cord. |
Synapse | The point between a neuron that is sending a signal and the neuron or other cell that is recieving. |
Neourotransmitters | the ends of axons that release chemicals. |
Sensory Nerves | The nerves that carry the signals from the sense organs tward the CNS. |
Motor Nreves | Nerves that carrysignals from the brain or spinal cord to the muscles and glands. |
Brain | The main cotrol center for the body. |
Cerebrum | The largest most complex part of the brain. |
Cerebellum | Controls balance and posture. |
Brain Stem | Guides signals coming from the spinal cord to other parts of the brain. |
Spinal Nerves | Nerves that branch from the spinal cord to the brain and to thetissues of the body. |
Reflex | A involentary respose. |
