Question | Answer |
Diffusion | The movement of molecules from and area of high concentration of that type of molecule, to an area of low concentration of that type of molecules, without using energy, until equilibrium is reached. |
Osmosis | The diffusion of water across a selectively permeable membrane. [A cell membrane is an example of a selectively permeable membrane.] |
Active Transport | [Transport that requires energy, done by cell, opposite of diffusion.] The movement of molecules from an area of LOW concentration of that type of molecule, to an area of HIGH concentration of that type of molecules, across a cell membrane USING ENERGY. |
Endocytosis | The process of particles that are too large to move through the pores in the cell membrane ENTERING the cell, USING ENERGY. |
Exocytosis | The process of particles that are too large to move through the pores in the cell membrane EXITING the cell, USING ENERGY. |
