Objective Evidence | Observations of something that definitely happened; observation that can be proven. Example the sun is hot. |
Scientific Evidence | Data that is objective; it can be measured; data that can be organized. We use the metric system when we gather it. |
Natural Laws | Laws of physics. Governs how things work. Used to collect scientific evidence. What everyone thinks; principles accepted by all |
Scientific Method | A process of learning that begins with generating a hypothesis and progresses to prove or change the hypothesis by comparing it with scientific evidence. |

Learning through inquiry | learning by asking questions, answering, and then asking more questions |
Inquiry | A process of learning; learn by seeking answers to questions |
Repeatable experiment | An experiment that can be conducted again. Conditions and variables must remain the same. |
Hypothesis | Educated guess; based on research or prior knowledge |
Theory | An idea or scientific explanation that is supported by evidence over a long period of time but cannot be proven. |
Natural Law | A proven statement. The set of rules that are obeyed by every detail of everything that occurs in the universe |
deduce | To figure something out from known facts using logical thinking. |
Untrue Hypothesis | A hypothesis that was proven to be incorrect; experimenter can go back and change hypothesis and repeat experiment |
Conversion Factors | Allows you to compare two or more things by converting to a common unit. Example changing millimeters to centimeters when comparing two measurements; finding common denominator or equivalent fractions. |
