Troposphere | The lowest layer of the Earth's atmosphere, where weather occurs. |
Stratosphere | The second-lowest layer of the Earth's atmosphere. The ozone layer can be found here. |
Mesosphere | The layer of the Earth's atmosphere immediately above the stratosphere; the layer in which the meteroids burn up. |
Thermosphere | The outermost layer of Earth's atmosphere;the hottest layer. |
Ionosphere | The lower part of the thermesphere, where electrically charged particles called ions are found. |
Exosphere | The outer layer of the thermosphere, extending into space. |
Conduction | The direct transfer of thermal energy from one substance to another substance that it is touching. |
Convection | The transfer of thermal energy by the movement of a fluid (liquid or gas). |
Radiation | The direct transfer of energy by electronic waves. |
