Electricity | form of energy called electrical energy. It comes from electrical charges from matter. |
Matter | is made up of atoms |
Repel | pushes apart. Any two objects with the same kind of charge. |
Attract | move together. Any two objects with opposite charges. |
Neutral | Objects that will attract either positive or negitive charges |
Static electricity | is an electric charge that builds up on the surfact of an object. It can be either positive or negitive depending on the loss or gain of electrons. |
Electric discharges | the movement of extra electrons from one object to another. Lightning is a huge electric discharge. |
Electric current | the continous movement of electrons (don't stop) |
Electrical circut | a "path" on which electrons move continously. |
Conductor | a material which electrons move easily. copper is one of the best conductors. |
Insulator | a material which electrons do not move easily. Rubber and Plastic are good examples. |
Filament | a thin wire inside the glass bulb of a light bulb. It is made up of tongsten which is a conductor that throws off heat and light. It is very strong not to break or melt. |
Open circut | break in the circut so electrons can't move. |
Closed circut | no break in the circut and electrons can move. |
tongsten | a conductor that throws off heat and light. It is very strong not to break or melt. Used to make the wire in a light bulb. |

An example of a good insulator | Rubber and Plastic |
An example of a huge electric discharge | Lightning. |
