| Term | Definition |
| Force | is any push or pull that causes an object to move, stop, or change speed or direction. |
| Friction | is the resistance to motion created by two objects moving against each other. |
| Kinetic energy | is the energy of motion |
| Potential energy | is stored energy based on an object’s position |
| Motion | is a change in an object’s position. |
| Mass | is the amount of material on which a force can act. |
| Speed | is a description of how fast an object is moving. It is calculated as the quotient of distance divided by time. |
