Question | Answer |
Biceps | The muscle in the arm that pulls your hand to your face |
Triceps | The muscle in the arm that pulls your hand away from your face |
Contract | When a muscle pulls on a bone and becomes shorter |
Relax | When a muscle is not pulling on a bone and becomes longer |
Force | A push or a pull, with muscles, it is always a pull |
Lever | A simple machine which has a bar that pivots on a fulcrum (point) |
Mechanical Advantage | The amount of force that a machine multiplies the force put into it |
Input Force | The amount of force put into a lever to lift a load |
Output Force | The amount of force that is created when a lever lifts an object |
Class 1 lever | When the fulcrum is between the input force and the output force; example: see-saw |
Class 2 lever | When the output force is between the input force and the fulcrum; example: wheel barrow |
Class 3 lever | When the input force is between the fulcrum and the output force; example: stapler |
