| Term | Definition |
| Force | a push or a pull exerted on an object; force has size and direction |
| Static friction | the force that resist the start of sliding motion between two surfaces that are contacted and at rest |
| Kinetic friction | the force that opposes the movement of two surfaces that are in contact and are moving over each other |
| Drag | a force parallel to the velocity of the flow; it opposes the direction of an aircraft and, in combination with thrust, determines the speed of the aircraft. |
| Field | any region in which a physical force has an effect |
| Net Force | the combination of all of the forces acting on an object |
| Inertia | the tendency of an object to resist a change in motion unless an outside force acts on the object |
| Gravity | a force of attraction between two objects that is due to their masses |
| Free fall | the motion of a body when only the force of gravity is acting on the body |
| Orbit | the path that a body follows as it travels around another body in space |
| Electric Charge | a fundamental property that leads to the electric magnetic interactions among particle that make up matter |
| Static electricity | electric charge at rest; generally produce by friction or induction |
| Electrical conductor | a material in which charges can move freely |
| Electrical insulator | a materiel in which charges can not move freely |
| semiconductor | an element or compound that conducts electric current better than an insulator does but not as well as a conductor does. |
