| Term | Definition |
| Front | The place where two air masses of different temperatures and pressures meet. |
| High Pressure | An area of higher air pressure that is typically associated with clear weather. |
| Low Pressure | An area of lower air pressure that is typically associated with wet or cloudy weather. |
| Air Mass | A large body of air that has approximately the same temperature and humidity. |
| Convection | The movement of energy through a moving liquid or gas. |
| Weather | A pattern of precipitation, wind, etc. that covers a small area for a short amount of time. |
| Climate | A pattern of temperature and precipitation that remains for a long period of time. |
| Ocean Current | The flow of water within the ocean that moves in a regular pattern. |
| El Niño | A periodic change in the location of warm and cool surface waters in the Pacific Ocean. |
| Deep Ocean Current | The movement of water far below the surface of the ocean. |
| Surface Current | The flow of water that occurs near or at the surface of the ocean. |
| Hurricane | A low pressure tropical storm that forms over warm ocean water. |
| Greenhouse Effect | Heat trapped close to Earth's surface due to greenhouse gases. |
| Greenhouse Gases | Gases that act like a blanket around Earth. |
| Ozone Layer | Protects Earth from harmful UV radiation. |
| Precipitation | Water that returns to the surface of the Earth during water cycle. |
| Atmosphere | Air surrounding the Earth. |
| Hydrosphere | Solid, liquid, and gas forms of water on Earth. |
| Cold Front | Fast moving cold air mass colliding with slow moving warm air mass. Cold air will push out warm air. |
| Warm Front | Slow moving warm air mass moves over cold air mass. Warm air mass stays behind after cold air mass leaves. |
| Stationary Front | Weak cold and weak warm front come together and neither moves. |
| Occluded Front | When two fronts (not air masses) collide. |
