biome | it is a group of ecosystems with similar climates and organisms |

Rain forest | it is a forest in which large amounts of rain fall year-round |
emergent layer | it is the tallest layer of the rainforest which receives the most sunlight and can reach up to 70 meters |
canopy | it is the layer underneath the emergent layer that is 50 meters tall form a leafy roof |
understory | it is below the copy and it is the layer of shorter trees and vines around 15 meters high |
grassland | it is an area that is populated mostly by grasses and other non-woody plants |
savanna | is the grasslands that are located closer to the equator than prairies |
deciduous trees | they are trees that shed there leaves and grow new ones each year |
boreal forest | they are dense forests found in upper regions of the northern hemisphere |
coniferous trees | they are trees that produce their seeds in cones and have leaves shaped like needles. |
tundra | is extremely cold and dry |
permafrost | it is frozen soil |
