Adaptation | A characteristic a plant or animal has in order to help it survive in its environment |
Life Cycle | The stages of growth that a plant or animal goes through |
Producer | Organism that makes it own food |
Consumer | Organism that cannot make its own food. Gets its energy from other organisms |
Vertebrates | Animals that have a backbone |
Invertebrates | Animals without a backbone |
Inherited | behavior that an animal is born knowing how to do |
Learned Behavior | behavior that an animal has to be taught |
Organisms | Living things that carry out life functions on their own |
Flowering Plants | Plants that produce flowers and sometimes fruit. They grow their own seeds safely inside flowers |
Non-Flowering Plant | Their seeds are inside a cone or they reproduce using spores. |
Sense Organ | An organ that senses changes in an animal’s environment so it can adapt |
Characteristic | trait that helps identify an organism from other organisms |
Germination | to cause (a seed) to begin to grow |
Pollination | to give (a plant) pollen from another plant of the same kind so that seeds will be produced |
