Tundra | a vast, flat, treeless Arctic region of Europe, Asia, and North America in which the subsoil is permanently frozen. |
Taiga | the sometimes swampy coniferous forest of high northern latitudes, especially that between the tundra and steppes of Siberia and North America. |
