Term | Definition |
Evolution | is the process of biological change by which populations become different from their ancestors over many generations. |
Bilateral Symmetry | arrangement of an organism or part of an organism along a central axis, so that the organism or part can be divided into two equal halves. |
Radial Symmetry | a basic body plan in which the organism can be divided into similar halves by passing a plane at any angle along a central axis, characteristic of sessile and bottom-dwelling animals, as the sea anemone and starfish. |
Asymmetrical Symmetry | has two sides that don't match — it's uneven or out of whack. |
Common Ancestor | the idea that all organisms share a common ancestral species from which they evolved at some point in the past. |
Anatomy | of an organism is its body structure and its structural traits. |
Embryo | an unborn or unhatched offspring in the process of development. |
Embryology | The study of the development of unborn or unhatched organisms. |
