bronchi | tubes lined with cilia that connect the trachea to the lungs. |
diaphragm | a domed shaped muscle located under the lungs. It moves up and down during inhalation and exhalation |
emphysema | a lung disease where the alveoli become large and break down. |
lung cancer | uncontrolled growth of tumors in the lungs. |
lungs | large spongy organs located in the chest. Gas exchange occurs here. |
trachea | the tube that transports air to the bronchial tubes from the mouth and nose. (windpipe). |
ATP | energy molecule made during respiration. |
Fermentation | anaerobic respiration – oxygen is not needed- makes lactic acid |
Fatigue | when lactic acid builds up in the muscles |
