Concentration | Measure of the amount of solute dissolved in a solvent |
Solubility | The amount of solute needed to make a saturated solution using a given amount of solvent at a certain temperature |
Suspension | A mixture in which particles of a material are dispersed throughout a liquid or a gas but are large enough that they settle out |
Colloid | A mixture in which the particles are dispersed throughout but are not heavy enough to settle out |
Ions | Charged particles that form when an atom gains or loses electrons |
Metallic bond | The bond formed between positively charged metal ions and the electrons around them |
Pure substance | A sample of matter ether a single element or a single compound |
Molecule | The smallest unit of a substance that keeps all of the physical and chemical properties of that substance |
Chemical symbol | Shortened way of writing the name of an element |
