What is shock? | An acute widespread deficiency in tissue perfusion of blood and oxygen throughout the body. Inadequate tissue perfusion. |
What is anaphylactic shock? | Severe allergic reaction causing systemic vasodilation and hypovolemia, and narrowing of the airways |
What is mean arterial blood pressure (MAP)? | cardiac output x peripheral resistance |
What should MAP be in order for cells to receive oxygen and nutrients to metabolize energy? | >65 mm Hg |
What is hypoxia? | deficient amount of oxygen reaching the tissues |
What are the 3 stages of shock? | 1.) Compensatory 2.)Progressive 3.) irreversable |
What are the signs of compensatory shock? | confusion, cold clammy skin, increased heart rate and respers, decreased urine output, and respiratory alkalosis |
What are the signs of Progressive shock? | decreased systolic BP <90, MAP <65, Heart Rate >150, scarce urine output, metabolic acidosis |
What are the signs of Irreversible shock? | erratic heart rate or asystole,requires mechanical breathing device, jaundice, anuric, and unconscious. |
