Asexual Reproduction | Reproduction that involves 1 parent and creates identical offspring |
Egg and Sperm | Female and male sex cells |
Fertilization | Joining of the egg and sperm |
Selective Breeding | Mating 2 organisms with the goal of creating desirable (wanted) traits |
Sexual Reproduction | Reproduction in which 2 sex cells form a zygote. Creates genetically different offspring |
Zygote | A fertilized egg |
Cell Division | The process that cells go through to make more cells. One cell splits into two. |
Daughter Cells | The cells that are formed after cell division has taken place (One cell splits into two to form two new daughter cells) |
Reproduction | The process of making new life (offspring) |
Species | A group of organisms that share similar characteristics and can reproduce among themselves |
Diversity | Difference or variety |
Multicellular | Made up of many cells |
Embryo | A growing and developing offspring created from sexual reproduction |
Germinate | The process of a seed developing into a plant |
Unicellular | Made up of only 1 cell |
