body mechanics | study of muscle and body movements--prevention and correction of problems related to posture and lifting |
emergency move | a patient move that should be performed when there is immediate danger to the patient or to the resuer |
kyphosis | abnormal curvature of the spine with convexity backward also known as slouching |
lordosis | abnormal anterior convexity of the spine. Also called swayback |
nonsurgent move | a patient move made when no immediate threat to life exists |
power grip | recommending gripping technique. Palm and fingers come in complete contact with the object and all fingers are bent at the same angle |
power lift | Feet apart, knees bent, back and abdominal muscles tightened, back straight, lifting force driven through heels and arches. upper body rise before hips |
urgent move | pt moved because of immediate threat to life because of pts condition and must be moved quickly because of condition |
