Term | Definition |
control group | serves as the comparison in an experiment. |
inference | an idea or conclusion that's drawn from evidence and reasoning. |
investigation | a quest to find the answer to a question using the scientific method. |
model (scientific model) | a representation of an idea, an object or even a process or a system that is used to describe and explain phenomena that cannot be experienced directly. |
dependent variable | is the variable observed during the experiment, and used to collect data during the experiment. |
independent variable | is the variable that is deliberately changed by the scientist. |
theory (scientific theory) | Explanation of the natural world repeatedly confirmed through experimentation. Simply, Why it happens. |
law (scientific law) | A statement ( without explanation on why) based on repeated experimental observations that describes some aspects of the universe. Simply, What happens. |
valid | It shows how well the results of an experiment reflects the reality it claims. |
experimental group | everything is the same as the control group, except one variable is different. |
