Term	Definition
Social Welfare Origins	FDR was the founder of social welfare. Seeking to help the unemployed in the great depression. Federal aid for the poor and children as well as dependent people. Lots of government involvement.
Social Security Act	Act that provides general welfare, funded by the people of the US. Helps the elderly, people with permanent disabilities and people who are dependent on others.
LBJs Great Society	Campaign launched by LBJ in 1964-65. Instituted numerous policies that focused on decreasing the poor population as well as trying to eradicate racial injustice.
Aid to Families with Dependent Children	Created by the SSA. Provided help to children whose families were of low income.
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families	Provides temporary financial assistance to pregnant women usually with one or more dependent. helps pay for food, housing, clothes, medical expenses, bills etc..
