optic nerve | eye structure that transmits information about an image formed on the retina to the brain |
electromagnetic spectrum | all of the frequencies or wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation |
radio waves | electromagnetic waves that have short wavelengths, lowest frequencies, and least amount of energy |
microwaves | electromagnetic waves that have the longest wavelengths, higher frequencies, and more energy than radio waves |
infrared light | light on the electromagnetic spectrum, light with wavelengths that fall between visible light and microwaves |
visible light | a narrow section of the electromagnetic spectrum that the human eye can detect |
ultraviolet light | electromagnetic waves with short wavelengths that fall between visible light and x-rays |
x-rays | electromagnetic waves with short wavelengths, high frequencies and high energy that can travel through soft tissue. |
gamma rays | the shortest electromagnetic waves that have the ighest frequencies and highest energy |
