Term | Definition |
Absolute location | the exact location in terms of latitude and longitude of a place |
Continents of the world | Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America |
Equator | an imaginary line that circles the globe in an east-west direction exactly half way between the North and South poles |
Evolution | gradual change over time |
Fact | something having, real demonstrable existence |
Latitude | imaginary lines drawn in an east-west direction around the globe that measure the distance north and south of the equator in degrees of a circle |
Law | a summarizing statement of observed experiments that has been tested many times and is generally accepted as true by the scientific community |
Longitude | imaginary lines drawn in a north-south direction around the globe that measure the distance east and west of the Prime Meridian in degrees of a circle |
Natural selection | survival and reproduction of those organisms best adapted to their surroundings |
Northern hemisphere | the half of the earth north of the equator |
Oceans of the world | Atlantic, Arctic, Indian, and Pacific |
Southern hemisphere | the half of the earth south of the equator |
Theory | the set of facts, based on separate but related hypotheses, explaining the behavior of a particular phenomenon |
