Periodic Table | Standardized table that organizes the elements by properties. |
Element | A substance that cannot be broken down into another substance. |
Nucleus | Central core of an atom. |
Molecule | Two or more atoms joined together by a chemical bond. |
Chemical symbol | A letter or letters that abbreviate an elements name. |
Chemical reaction | Process in which one or more substances are changes into one or more different substances. |
Neutron | Particle in the nucleus of an atom that has no charge. |
Electron | Particle in an atom that has a negitive electric charge. |
Proton | Particle in the nucleus of an atom that has a positive charge. |
Compound | Substance made of two or more elements that are chemically combined. |
Chemical formula | A shortland way to describe the chemical makeup of a compound. |
Atom | Smallest particle of an element that still has the properties of that element. |
