Term | Definition |
Lipids | Any of a group of organic compounds, including the fats or oils. These are used for long-term storage of energy |
Substrate | The substance on which an enzyme acts. Each enzyme has a specific substrate that it fits. Just like a key only fits one lock |
Proteins | Molecules that are made of amino acids and are used to make tissues in the body. |
Carbohydrates | Molecules that give the body quick energy. An Example = Sugar |
Amino Acids | The building blocks of proteins. |
Enzymes | A substance produced by the body that helps to speed up a reaction. For Example - these help the body digest food faster. |
