nucleus | a structure found in Eukaryota cells that contain DNA and is responsible for controlling the activities of the cell |
Eukaryotic | a cell containing a membrane-enclosed nucleus and organelles |
Prokaryotic | a cell lacking a nucleus or any other member-enclosed organelles |
unicellular | an organism made up of one single cell |
multicellular | an organism made up of one or more that one cell, and often made up of different types of cells |
classification | the process of grouping things based on similarities |
taxonomy | the branch of science that formally names and classifies organisms by their structure, function and relationships |
Domain | the highest and largest rank of grouping organisms three groups: Archean, Bacteria and Eukaryota |
Domain bactearia | prokaryotic, single- celled organism that lacks a nucleus in its cell |
Domain Archaea | prokaryotic single-celled organism that lacks a nucleus in its cell and can live in extreme environments |
Domain Eukarya | organisms with cells that contain a nucleus |
kingdom | a taxonomic rank below domain 6 groups: Animalia, Fungi, planta,Protista,Archaea, and Eubacteria |
autotroph | an organism that is able to make its own food; known as a producer in food chain |
heterotroph | an organism that cannot make its own food;known as a consumer in the food chain |
asexual reproduction | a method of reproduction that requires only one parent 100% DNA from 1 parent |
sexual reprodiction | a method of reproduction that requires both male and female parent 50% from one parent 50% from 1 parent |
cell theory | states that all living organisms are made up of 1 or more cells; cells are the basic unit of life and all calls come from other cells |
kingdom Archeabacteria | unicellular asexual, auto and heterotroph, prokaryotic organism that live in extreme environments |
Kingdom Eubacteria | unicellular, sexual, auto and hererotroph prokaryotic organism that live in moderate environments |
kingdom Protista | uni- and multi cellular sexual auto- and heterotrophic Eukaryota organism that are microscopic |
Kingdom Fungi | uni-and multi-cellular sexual or asexual, hetero-trophic,eukaryotic organism; known as a decomposer in the food chain |
Kingdom Plantae | multi cellular, sexual and asexual, autotrophs ,eukaryotic organism; known as a producer in the food chain |
Kingdom Animilia | multicellular, sexual and asexual, hetrotrophs, eukaryotic organisms;known as a consumer in the food chain |
