Asteroid | rocky objects that orbit the sun |
Comet | made of gas, dust, ice and moves around the sun in an oval-shaped orbit |

Dwarf Planets | spherical object that orbits the sun. Ceres, Pluto, Eris |
Terrestrial Planets | are the planets closest to the sun, made of rock and metal and have solid outer layers. |
Gas Giants | primarily made of hydrogen and helium. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. |
Neil deGrasse Tyson | an astrophysicist who questioned Pluto's classification as a planet. |
Meteoroid | small, rocky particle that moves through Earth's atmosphere. |
Meteor | streak of light in Earth's atmosphere made by a glowing meteoroid. |
Meteorite | is a meteoroid that strikes a planet or a moon |
Light Year | is the distance light travels in 1year. 300,000km/s |
Star | large ball of gas held together by gravity with a hot core where nuclear fusion occurs. |
Nebula | a cloud of gas and dust |
Supernova | an enormous explosion that destroys a star. |
Black Hole | an object whose gravity is so great that no light can escape. |
Galaxies | are huge collection of stars. Spiral, Irregular, Elliptical |
Big Bang Theory | the universe began from one point billions of years ago and has been expanding ever since. |
