Question | Answer |
What happens when you breathe? | Goes through the mouth, larynx, trachea, bronchi, then your lungs. You breathe in oxygen, and lungs exchange it for carbon dioxide. Diaphragm contracts when breathing, and relaxes when no air. |
Lungs | It weighs 2 pounds when it's full of air and is pale pink when healthy. |
Bronchi | Lungs have 600 million bronchioles in them. Alveoli cluster around the end on bronchioles, and soak up oxygen like a sponge. |
Aveolus | Tiny air sacs called alveoli where oxygen enters carbon dioxide and leaves blood. |
Trachea | Voice box vibrates when you swallow. When you breathe, epiglottis opens and cartilage protects trachea. |
Diaphragm | When chest fills with air, diaphragm expands. Ribs relax when air is out of your body. |
