Lymphatic System | a network of tissues and organs that help rid the body of toxins, waste and other unwanted materials. |
Immune System | a network of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to defend the body against attacks by “foreign” invaders. These are primarily microbes—tiny organisms such as bacteria, parasites, and fungi that can cause infections. |

Skeletal System | performs vital functions — support, movement, protection, blood cell production, calcium storage and endocrine regulation — that enable us to survive. (consists of 206 bones, as well as a network of tendons, ligaments and cartilage that connects them) |
Muscular System | responsible for the movement of the human body. |
Plant adaptations for protection/defense | an intact and impenetrable barrier composed of bark and a waxy cuticle/hard shells, thorns (modified branches), and spines (modified leaves). |
Animal defenses from illness & injury | by constantly facing attacks from foreign invaders that can cause infection and disease, the body has a number of external and internal safeguards that prevent most dangerous invaders from entering and causing harm. |
Homeostasis | The tendency of the body to seek and maintain a condition of balance or equilibrium within its internal environment, even when faced with external changes. |
