Centralized Dispensing Automation | Technology that assist in the section and dispensing of drug products that are located in a central location, such as the pharmacy, and that can include robotics and carousels that use barcodes scanning to select and label drug products for patients |
Centralized Pharmacy | Pharmacy services that are provided from location ( usually centrally located) in the hospital. Pharmacy personell, resources, and functions primarily reside within this self contained location |

Inhalant | A fine powder or solution of a drug delivered as a mist through the mouth into the respitory tract |

Parenteral | A route of medicaytion administration that by passes the gastrointestinal tract, such as intravenous, intramuscular, or subcutaneous administration |
Patient counseling | The act of educating a patient , by a pharmacist, regarding the proper use of a prescribed drug, at the time of dispensing |
Pharmacist | A health care professional licensed by the state to engage in the practice of pharmacy. Pharmacist have advance training in the pharmaceutical sciences, such as pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and pharmaceutics |

Primary prescription | A label on a dispensed drug product, that contains legally requiered information, including pharmacy name & address, patient name, prescriber name, drug name, directions for use, date dispensed, cautionary statements, sequential prescription number. |
Registration | The process of making a list or being enrolled in an existing list. A pharmacy technician may be requiered to be registered with the state board of pharmacy before being able to legally carry out some pharmacy fuctions. |
STAT | Abbreviation of the Latin word statin, meaning immedeatly. Commonly used on medication orders to indicate the need for ther drug right away |
