Adaptive equipment | Equipment made to help a person function better. Eg. Hearing aid, cane, walker. motor wheelchair |
Adduction | Movement towards the center of the body , the arm moves to the side of the body. |
ADL, ADLs | Abbreviation for activities of daily living. Things people do every day, am care, eat meals, getting dressed |
Admission | Official entry of a person into a health care setting |
Admitting resident | The procedure to admit a patient. Take in vital signs, questions, checking clothing, explain the daily routine. |
Advance Directives | A document stating a person's wishes about health care when that person cannot make his or her own decisions |
Affected side | The side of the body that show results of a disease or condition. The affected side has limited to no movement. |

Aspiration | Breathing fluid, food! Vomitus or object into the lungs |
Assault | The intention to threatening to touch a person's body without their consent.eg. I will whip your butt. |
Assistive device | A device that will help you assist you. Eg. cane , long handle brush |
