Cardiovascular system | collection of organs that transport blood throughout the body |
artery | a blood vessel that carries blood away form the heart to the body's organs |
capillary | a tiny blood vessel that allows an exchange between blood and cells in other tissues. |
vein | a vessel that carries blood to the heart |
pulmonary circulation | the flow of blood from the heart to the lungs and back to the heart through the pulmonary arteries, capilalries, and viens |
systemic circulation | the flow of blood form the heart to all parts of the body and back to the heart |
atherosclerois | cholesterol buildup in the bood vessels making them narrow and less elastic |
stroke | blood vessel in the brain become clogged or ruptures |
heart attack | when part of the muscle dies and part of the muscle is damaged |
heart failure | heart cannot pump enough blood to meet the body's needs |
