Question | Answer |
How is mass measured? | Balance scale. |
How is volume measured? | Either L x W x H or Water displacement. |
What are physical properties? | A way to describe matter. |
What are the phases of matter? | Solid, Liquid, Gas, and sometimes Plasma |
How do we turn a solid to a liquid | Add energy. |
How do we turn a liquid to a solid? | Take energy away. |
What is the freezing point of water? | 32F or 0C. |
Why can't we achieve absolute zero? | Every thing is touching everything. |
How do we turn a solid to a gas? | We are adding energy. |
What is the boiling point of water? | 212 F or 100 C. |
What is absolute zero? | When the molecules completely stop, it is unreachable. |
What is Physical change? Give an example. | A change of physical properties (color, shape, size, etc.) . Example: Dipped in water, then dried, paper is still paper. |
What is a Chemical change? Give an example. | A change of one matter, that gives you another state of matter. Example: Pancake batter -- Pancake (Liquid to solid) |
What do I know about molecules? | Molecules are too small to see individually, and molecules always move. |
Which would not be a CHEMICAL change? Cooking pancakes or Marker on paper? | Marker on paper. |
Which is not a PHYSICAL change? Vinegar and Baking soda or Ripped paper? | Vinegar and Baking soda. |
How would you prove something is a solution? | Try to pull it apart. |
Bubble bath. Salt in water. Kool Aid. What are these? | Solutions. |
Salad. Trail Mix. Pebbles in sand. What are these? | Mixtures. |
What has volume, physical properties, mass, and takes up space? | Matter. |
