Astronomer | A scientist who studies the universe beyond Earth |
Rotation | The spinning movement of a planet on it's axis. |
Revoloution | The movement of an object around another object |
Orbit | The path of an object as it revolves around another in space. |
Constellation | An imaginary pattern of stars in the sky |
Geocentric Theory | Theory that everything in our solar system revolved around the Earth. |
Heliocentric Theory | A model of the solar system whee everything in it revolves around the sun. |
Comet | A loose collection of ice, dust, and small rocky particles with a long orbit of the sun. |
Solar System | The sun, its planets, and all other objects in orbit around the sun or planets. |
Gravity | The force that pulls objects towards each other. |
NASA | Acronym for National Aeronautic and Space Administration |
Meteor | A streak of light in the sky produced by the burning of a meteoroid in Earth's atmosphere. |
Telescope | A device built to observe distant objects in space. |
Solstice | When one part of the day is longer than the other. |
Equinox | Day and night are equal. |
Equator | The imaginary line separating the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. |
Axis | An imaginary line about which a body rotates. |
