Rapid Acting insulin | Instruct pt to eat no more than 5-15 mintues after injection |
Intermediate Insulin | may have to be split into 2 injections to achieve 24 hr coverage;cloudy insulin; can be mixed |
Regular insulin | Short acting insulin -clear insulin-administered 20 -30 minutes before a meal; only insulin that can be given IV; can be mixed |
