cell cycle | The usual process cells go through for growth and division |
replication | the process of making a copy of something |
mitosis | The part of the cell cycle when a cell's DNA makes a copy and the nucleus and entire cell divides. The number of chromosomes is the same as all other cells. Two daughter cells are produced. |
chromosome | a doubled rod of chromatin; where the coiled DNA is found; the genetic material of a cell |
cancer | a disease in which some body cells divide uncontrollably |
mutation | a change in a gene or chromosome |
chemotherapy | a process using drugs to kill cancer cells |
meiosis | process that produces sex cells (sperm and egg) needed for reproduction; the number of chromosomes is half of a regular cell; four daughter cells are produced. |
