Term | Definition |
Hypothesis | a statement of what you think will happen during and investigation |
Observation | is something you find out about objects, events, or living things by using your senses |
Experiment | is the use of scientific methods to test your hypothesis |
Variable | something that can change in a test |
Independent Variable | is one that you can control |
Dependent Variable | changes when an independent variable changes. It is what gets measured. It gives you data |
Control Group | The group that doesn't get the special treatment |
Procedures | are step-by-step instructions for completing a task |
Data | is information from which a conclusion can be drawn or a prediction can be made |
Precision | is the ability to consistently repeat a measurement |
Accuracy | is the ability to make a measurement that is as close to the actual value as possible |
Inference | is a conclusion based on observation |
Evidence | are observations that make you believe that something is true |
Model | are objects or ideas that represent other things |
Survey | are questions that are answered by people. These are great opinion questions |
Sampling | Examining random individuals from a population |
Experimental Group | the group that gets the special treatment |
