Excessive diuresis | Can lead to dehydration |
Ototoxicity | Loop diuretics can cause tinnitus/hearing loss |
Hyperkalemia | In potassium sparing diuretics |
Hyperglycemia | In Loop diuretics |
Considerations | Record I & O, assess for reduction of edema, monitor lab work, especially electrolytes, monitor weight |
Diet | Eat food high in K+, EXCEPT if taking a potassium sparing diuretic |
