Cell | The smallest structural and functional unit of an organism, typically microscopic and consisting of cytoplasm and a nucleus enclosed in a membrane. |
Unicellular | Consisting of a single cell. |
Multicellular | Having or consisting of many cells. |
Homeostasis | The tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes. |
Binomial | A two-part name, especially the Latin name of a species of living organism. |
Species | A group of living organisms consisting of similar individuals capable of exchanging genes or interbreeding. |
Genus | A principal taxonomic category that ranks above species and below family. |
Dichotomous | Exhibiting or characterized by dichotomy. |
Cladogram | A branching diagram showing the cladistic relationship between a number of species. |
Light Microscope | An ordinary microscope that uses light as distinguished from an electron microscope. |
Compound Microscope | A microscope consisting of an objective and an eyepiece mounted in a telescoping tube. |
Electron Microscope | A microscope with high magnification and resolution. |
