Wave | A wave is a disturbance that moves through matter or space. |
Transverse waves | A transverse wave causes particles in matter to move back and forth at right angles to the direction in which the wave travels. |
Congressional wave | A compressional wave causes particles in matter to move back and forth in the same direction in which the wave travels. |
Wavelength | The distance between one point on a wave and the nearest point moving with the same speed and direction is the wavelength. |
Frequency | The frequency of a wave is the number of wave lengths that pass by a point each second. |
Law of reflecton | According to law of fraction the angles that the incoming wave make the normal equals the angle that the outgoing wave makes with the normal. |
Refraction | Refraction is the change in direction of a wave when it changes speed as it travels from one material to another. |
Diffraction | waves can change direction which is the bending of waves around an object. |
opaque | allowing no light to pass through. |
translucent | allowing light, but not detailed images, to pass through; semitransparent. |
transparent | allowing light to pass through so that objects behind can be distinctly seen. |
