ventral cavity | contains the thoracic cavity. frontal part of the body |
thoracic cavity | contains the longs, major blood vessels, and other structures. |
pericardial cavity | encloses the heart |
diaphragm | dome-shaped muscle used for breathing |
abdominal cavity | encloses the stomach, liver, spleen, and intestines |
pelvic cavity | contains the female reproductive organs, urinary bladder, and male ducts. |
transverse plane | right angle to the long axis of the organ. Devides the organs into superior and inferior sections |
frontal plane | divides the organ into anterior and posterior portions |
sagittal plane | divides the organ into left and right halves. |
