Term | Definition |
Nebula | A cloud of dust and has in space |
Protostar | Begins to form out of a nebula |
Main sequence stars | A star that is fusing hydrogen and helium, often called the adult form of a star |
Red giant | Star that uses up its supply of hydrogen out its core expands |
Planetary nebula | As a red giant expands it is no longer able to hold onto its outer layer gas the expanding layer of gas is called this. |
White dwarf | The hot and dense core of a star is called this. It's very hot, up to 100,000 degrees celsius. |
Black dwarf | White dwarf that has cooled off |
Supergiant | Masses 10 or more times the sun. Luminosities form 30,000 to a million times more then the sun |
Supernova | An explosion that rips a star apart near the end of its life |
