Element | When something is made up of only one kind of atom |
Proton | Found inside the nucleus , it has a positive charge |
Electron | Found on the outside of the nucleus, it has a negative charge |
Neutron | Has equal mass to a proton but instead has no charge; also found in the nucleus |
Nobel Gases | Found in Group 18, these are the inert elements, so they are very unreactive |
Halogens | These elements are very reactive because of their 7 valence electrons, They are found in group 17 & most commonly form bonds with the alkali metals |
Transitional Metals | These elements are found in groups 3-12 and are reactive while other may not be. it all depends on the element |
Alkali Metals | These metals are very reactive because of their one valence electrons |
Alkali Earth Metals | Found in the second column, these metals are slightly less reactivate, unlike the alkali metals |
Alloy | A metal made by combining two or more metallic elements |
