| Term | Definition |
| Experiment | An organized process used to test a hypothesis. |
| Independent Variable | what is being changed in the experiment. |
| Dependent Variable | what is being measured in the experiment, and changes based on the independent variable. |
| Control | what stays the same for the entire experiment so that it is fair and reliable. |
| Hypothesis | An educated guess about the outcome of an experiment. |
| Data | Observations and measurements recorded during an experiment. |
| Matter | anything that has mass and takes up space. |
| Mass | amount of matter in an object, measured in grams (g), doesn't change no matter where you are, tool to measure it is a balance (triple beam balance). |
| Weight | measures gravity’s pull on an object, measured in Newtons, can change depending on where an object is located. Measured using a scale. |
| Gravity | The force that pulls all things towards the center of the Earth. Everything with mass has a gravitational force. |
