Term | Definition |
1. Access Copyright | A non-profit organization that represents authors of printed and artistic work which protects intellectual property |
2. Copyright | “the right to copy”, only the owner or creator is permitted to copy or reproduce the work. Protects the creator of original material |
3. Intellectual Property – | Legal rights from an original or creative thought or activity (industrial, scientific, literary, and artistic fields) |
4. Royalty | Money paid to copyright owners for their works |
5. Trade-Marks | A picture or word used by a manufacturer or company to distinguish their company from another |
6. Public Domain | Copyright-free work that can be used for any purpose |
7. Moral Rights | Right of an author over their work to be named as the author even after the sale/ transfer of a copyright |
8. Performing Rights | Rights of performers and producers to be compensated when their works are performed or broadcasted publically. |
9. Plagiarism | Claiming another person’s work for your own |
10. Fair Dealing | Using works for private study, research, criticism, review or news reporting that does not fall under copyright infringement. |
11. Blanket License | Gives the user the right to perform all the work for a single fee and is not limited to a number of uses |
12. Patent. | Excludes others from making, using or selling an invention. |
