| Term | Definition |
| Explicit Memory | The conscious, intentional recollection of events, experiences, and previously learned facts (Semantic and Episodic Memory) |
| Semantic Memory | Concerned with facts and their context; when damaged the individual is able to remember the event but not the context in which it occurred |
| Episodic Memory | Specific events in a person's life (autobiographical memory) |
| Implicit Memory | An unconscious non-intentional memory (motor skill learning, priming, and classical conditioning) |
