Term | Definition |
Access Copyright | An organization that created to ensure that the owners of works are receiving what they are entitled when their work is copied. |
Copyright | A legal entitlement to the authors/artists of work to reproduce, publish or sell work. Only protect the expressions of ideas and themes, not the ideas and themes themselves. |
Intellectual Property | The legal rights that come from an intellectual activity. |
Royalty | Amount paid to use an intellectual property, which if not paid for, would be considered infringement. |
Trade-Marks | A word or design that allows a service or organization to be recognized from others in the industry or marketplace. |
Public Domain | Works that are not protected under copyright. Either the author has waived the copyright or it the end of the year fifty years after the author has died. |
Moral Rights | Protects the personality of the author in their works by way of the copyright. |
Performing Rights | The right to preform a work in various types of mediums. |
Plagiarism | Taking another persons work and passing it off as your own. |
Fair Dealing | Allows the use of limited and non commercial use of a work as long as it pertains to research, reviews, criticism, news reporting and private study. |
Patent | An allowance by the government to not permit others to reproduce or sell a person's invention. |
Blanket License | Giving the right to use a work as many times as needed for a stated cost. |
