Term | Definition |
Access Copyright | An organization that works with schools to allow access to various copyrighted materials for educational purposes. |
Copyright | The right to copy a work, usually granted to the one who holds the intellectual property and whoever they choose to grant it to. |
Intellectual Property | A creation from the mind that belongs to the creator exclusively. |
Royalty | The money given to the original artist for use of their work. |
Trade-Marks | A sign, phrase or design that is recognizable and belongs to a company. |
Public Domain | Public domain is intellectual property/patents that have expired and now belong to nobody, and are free to use. |
Moral Rights | Moral rights include the rights of attribution, anonymity, and the integrity of a piece of work. The artist keeps these rights indefinitely. |
Performing Rights | The rights to perform a specific piece of music or a play in public. |
Plagiarism | The use of intellectual property that does not belong to the user without permission/specification of use. |
Fair Dealing | Permits users to copy for specific purposes, such as criticism. |
Patent | A statement of ownership of an idea, specific implementation or intellectual property (songs, videos, etc.) |
Blanket License | A blanket licence allows public places to play copyrighted music by paying a fee. |
